That changes the number of people needed to carry it, sometimes the vehicle, and occasionally the height you can realistically commit to. Decide the material before you commit the height, not after.
Book earlier than you think
Clay idol artists have finite capacity and long lead times, and the good ones are committed months ahead. The committee that decides in Shravan is choosing from what is left. This is the one area where the eco-friendly choice genuinely costs more if you are late — and costs almost nothing extra if you are early.
Make the choice visible in the accounts
If your members are paying a premium for shadu clay and natural colours, show it. An itemised report where “Idol — shadu clay” and “Natural colours” appear as their own lines turns a cost into a decision the society made together. Vagueness makes it look like overspending; specificity makes it look like values. It is the same money either way.
